Once a Saxon port on the River Chelmer & Blackwater Estuary, Hythe Quay is overlooked by the mariner's church of St.Mary. The Quay is home to several Thames sailing barges, the finishing point of the Annual Sailing Barge Race and the location for the famous Maldon Mud Race.
